Biography
Carol Ng has played the piano since she was 4 years old; she is an active piano teacher for over 34 years. Her second instrument is the harp that she has played for over 35 years and has taught the harp for 24 years. During her tenure as a piano and harp teacher, she has encouraged and taught her students to appreciate not only classical music but to branch and venture out to jazz, blues even rock and roll. Many of her students have graduated college with a minor in music and some are performing members of local band, member of the local symphony or have joined her as members of the music teaching profession.
In addition, she has completed training and certification from the Music Healing and Transition Program (MHTP) in 2008 and is employed as a Clinical Certified Music Practitioner at Dignity (formerly Mercy) General hospital since 2009 where she brings therapeutic harp music to the patient’s bedside. She is the resident harpist and pianist for the Chinese Community in Sacramento, California where she performs monthly and is an active member of the choir. Carol has received her music and teaching diploma from the Associate Board of the Royal School of Music in Hong Kong. She composes and arranges music for both the harp and piano. She is a freelance harpist and pianist for weddings and special events. She has played before large audiences in Hong Kong and intimate settings in Northern California. She has been an active member of the California AssociatIon of Professional Music Teacher (CAPMT-MTNA), the Sacramento Capitol Valley Harp Circle, Harpers Hall and was Vice President of the CAPMT-MTNA from 2004-2006.
